Skinner Box

A device developed by B.F. Skinner to study and measure behaviour through automated recording and reinforcement delivery. For example, a basic Skinner box for a rat consists of an enclosed chamber with an automated food dispenser and a button or lever that the rat can activate to receive food. In this case, the reinforcer is the food, while the behaviour being measured is the activation of the button or lever (American Psychological Association, 2018).
