Variable Ratio Schedule
An intermittent schedule of reinforcement which delivers reinforcement after an unpredictable number of responses, with a varied requirement that changes around a predetermined average. For example, a customer might receive a discount after 2, 5, or 8 purchases, which averages one discount every five purchases (VR 5) (Cooper et al., 2020).
